We are a welcoming and caring congregation that is strengthened by members who come from diverse backgrounds. Our school is renowned and our services are joyous. We have many programmes that inspire and educate our members.

There are a lot of great reasons to make Solel your Jewish home.  We’d like to get to know you so that we can show you why we think Solel is so special.  We hope you’ll think so too. Join us for a service, bring your young family to a “Community Family Shabbat” dinner and service.  Let’s talk over a coffee and a dessert at our Friday night Oneg Shabbat.
Meet some of our Congregants and hear what they have to say!

“I first came upon Solel Congregation because my parents had recently passed away in Montreal and I was searching for a way to reconnect with their lives and values. It was very comforting to hear the familiar prayers and music at synagogue services, but soon other benefits appeared.
Solel turned out to be a warm and friendly anchor in the community. I took some adult education courses and helped out at the school, making new friends along the way. As I continue to do my small part to build and maintain a Jewish presence in Mississauga, both for myself and for the next generation, I further define my own Jewish identity and build new social relationships. All these things have enhanced my life in so many ways.”

“When our little family of four joined Solel Congregation my late mother, in her seventies at the time, got involved in many of the committees and programs available like Education, Sisterhood, Lunch and Learn, etc… Andrew, my son started Bet Sefer Solel from kindergarten, made great friends along the way, and graduated with a Jewish education. The congregation welcomed us with open arms and we welcomed the opportunity to become an integral part of the Solel extended family.”

“What attracted me to Solel were many positive opportunities; a special place to learn, a welcoming place to explore my spiritual roots, and a place where I would be able to say Kaddish within a community of caring people. I found all that and more.”

“If Solel were simply a place of worship, I doubt whether I would be so attached to it. What makes Solel so unique is the warmth generated by the staff and congregation alike. The first time we visited the synagogue to inquire about membership, everyone made us feel as though we already belonged. With the arrival of our new rabbi, Audrey Pollack, in July, I know this atmosphere will not only endure but flourish even more.”

“I grew up in a Jewish secular household and my husband grew up attending a Conservative synagogue. After my husband and I had our first child, we decided that it was finally time to join a synagogue. Our closest options were Solel and one in Downtown Toronto. After attending a few services at Solel, there was no contest – this was the synagogue for us. We were warmly welcomed and we really liked that others from very diverse backgrounds are too. We’ve gradually become more involved in the synagogue and have taken advantage of some great offerings including the Hebrew School, Family Sabbath dinners and other great events. It’s a smaller congregation that has a very warm heart.”
